Privacy policy
Last updated 20 September 2026. Written from what this site actually does, not from a template. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
The short version
RideScout is a static website. There are no accounts and no login, and we do not sell or share personal information. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read, which does set cookies — details below — and there is no advertising network here.
Who we are
This site is operated by Web Pros, a Utah business. Post reaches us at 304 S Jones Blvd. #2092, Las Vegas, NV 89107, which is a mail-forwarding service rather than an office. Email is faster: [email protected].
What stays in your browser
Two features remember things, and both keep that memory on your own device. It is never transmitted to us.
- Compare selections use your browser's
sessionStorage, so the bikes you tick stay ticked as you move between pages. It is cleared when you close the tab. - Find your bike puts your five answers in the page address, which is what makes a result shareable. The answers are processed entirely in your browser; the scoring never reaches a server.
What our host records
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare records standard request information — IP address, time, page requested, browser user-agent — to serve pages and to defend against attacks.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets cookies in your browser (names beginning _ga) to recognise a returning browser, and it sends Google your IP address, the page you are on, and general device and browser information. Google processes that data on our behalf and also uses it for its own purposes under its own terms.
We use it to decide which bikes and guides to work on next. We do not use it to identify you, we have not enabled advertising features or remarketing, and nothing you type into the compare tool or the recommender is sent to it.
If you would rather not be counted: most browsers can block third-party scripts, any mainstream content blocker stops it, and Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you block it.
Third parties that see a request
- Google Fonts. Typefaces load from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and user-agent as part of that request. We are looking at self-hosting the fonts to remove this.
- Google Analytics. As described above.
- Outbound links to manufacturers and retailers. When you click through to buy, you are on their site under their policy, and they may set their own cookies — including one that credits us with the referral.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That relationship is disclosed in the footer of every page and beside every buy button. It does not affect which bikes are listed, how they are ranked, which specs are shown, or what the recommender suggests — and brands with no affiliate programme are carried on exactly the same terms. Our sourcing page commits to that in writing.
If you send us something
Where the site offers a form — suggesting a bike or brand, or a manufacturer submitting spec data — we receive what you type into it, including any contact details you choose to give. We use it for that purpose only: to check a spec, to reply to you, or to add a bike. We do not add you to a mailing list. Do not send us anything confidential through a web form.
Children
This site is aimed at adults shopping for a bicycle. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
Because we hold almost nothing about you, there is usually nothing to export or delete. If you have sent us a form submission and want it removed, email [email protected] and we will delete it. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, and to object to its processing; the same address is how you exercise them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the substance changes with it. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the law of the State of Utah.
